  2. Aspect ratio — many countries require square (1:1) or a specific rectangle (e.g., UK: 600 × 750 px, a 4:5 ratio). Resize proportionally, not by stretching, or you'll distort the head ratio below.
  3. Head-size ratio — the digital equivalent of "chin to crown in mm." Instead of millimeters, it's expressed as a percentage of total image height or a pixel range (e.g., US: head height = 50–69% of the photo's height; China: face width around 191–251 px within a 420–560 px wide image).
  4. File constraints — format (usually JPEG) and maximum file size (e.g., US: under 240 KB).
